General

What is this game about?
Prieamwidth RPri is a pri-vate RP set in the world of children's idol arcade game franchise PriPara, a magical girl/idol mashup that's more interested in making stupid jokes than either of those things. This game in particular is a "voluntary jamjar" that characters enter by scanning the PriTickets they have mysteriously received. They may leave at any time - and will, in fact, be encouraged to leave in the evenings.

What are the communipries?
There are three game communipries for the Prieamwidth PriPara:

[community profile] prieamwidth is the IPri communipri, for face-to face printeraction. Bracket or log-style posts are welcome. Monthly privent posts will be posted to this communipri.
[community profile] pritube is the pridia communipri, for text/audio/video calls or broadcasts using the Idol Watch. Meganee's PriPara TV proadcasts will be posted to this communipri.
[community profile] idletime is the OOPri communipri, for out-of-paracter communicaprion. Alerts from players, gamewide pannouncements, and test prives will be posted to this communipri.

There is no meme communipri at this time because, let's face it, this game is a shitpost. If there's suffpricient demand, this can change.

I don't know anything about PriPara!
Not a problem. The game glossarpri is a good place to start, but basically, it's a magical world where people can become their "ideal selves". They are also idols. Because arcade game. For children.

For an explanation of the NPriCs (Meganee, Meganii, etc), please see the NPriC post. Detailed information about PriPara itself can be found in the "All About PriPara" section prilow.

Those longing for the Full PriPara Exprierience may also download the eprisodes here (seasons 1-3 out of 4) and here (season 4, a reboot/sequel also known as "Idol Time"). Eprisodes 131 and Idol Time 22 are especiallpri pricommended as a prief glimpse of what the canon is like.

I don't know anything about idols either!
That's just fine. While everyone in the world of PriPara admires and longs to be "idols", and there's no shortage of singing, dancing, autograph signing, and friendly competition to win glory and fancy clothing, very few characters are professional entertainers. Instead, PriPara is a fun place where they hang out with their friends after school or work.

In short, how your character defines what "being an idol" means is up to them. Are they a sumo idol, a monster idol, a furry idol, or something else? PriPara is a pri-for-all!

How does my character get to the Prieamwidth PriPara?
Your character discovers their PriTicket and notices a Prism Stone Shop close by shortly afterwards. The Meganee inside explains that the ticket gains them access to the Prieamwidth PriPara, a world where anyone can become an idol, and gives them their Looky-Cute Bag, Idol Watch, Idol Time Mic, and Jewel. If your character scans their ticket in the gate at the back of the shop, they will undergo "PriPara Change" - turn into their "ideal self" - and travel to the Prieamwidth PriPara.

My character is dead/from a world without idols/is somewhere else a Prism Stone Shop is unlikely to appear!
Prism Stone has its ways. No matter your character's situation, they have obtained a ticket, and the shop appears before them. Even if it is floating in midair as they plummet to their doom, Prism Stone will not be denied. This, too, is the system.

Paracter Priquirements

Who may app to Prieamwidth?
Anyone invited by an adprin or an existing player. Prieamwidth will not be advertising on general DWRP communities like rpanons or Enable Me Plz. Please keep this pri-vate game pri-vate.

What kinds of characters are allowed in Prieamwidth?
Prieamwidth welcomes fictional characters. This includes fictionalized versions of historical prigures.

Appable paracters include:
✨ Canon/OU versions of characters
✨ Canon AU versions of characters, incl. doubles of those in game (for example, Caster!Cu and Lancer!Cu from Fate/)
✨ Fan-made AU versions of characters
✨ CRAU versions of characters previously played in other games, with their memories and powers from those games
✨ OCs, including OCs previously played in other games (please note this in your app)

Non-appable paracters include:
✨ Doubles of the exact same puniverse's version of a character
✨ Real human beings, living or dead

Appable paracters with caveats include:
✨ Customizable video game protagonists (Dragon Age, etc) - these characters are prifectly appable, but players of other characters from that canon get to decide whether their characters know this version of the character or not
✨ Cases where players want to play the same character from different "routes" of a the same instance of a canon (visual novels, etc) - the player apping in will need to explain how their character is sufficiently distinct from the one in-game
✨ OCs from established canon puniverses - like the video game protagonists, while these characters are appable, canon characters are under no obligation to recognize or thread with the character if the player isn't interested

Players may app up to 5 characters, and only 2 may be from the same franchise. Playing multiple characters within a single thread is permitted, but keep the prules in mind and never thread only with yourself. Always provide a hook for a third party!

All incoming characters will be asked to include information about their "manager" on their application. This is a side character who will support your idol in the Prieamwidth PriPara. Players may bring a companion-style character from their canon or invent a winged stuffed animal mascot that their character will meet upon entering Prieamwidth. "Companion-style" characters are defined as those whose role in canon revolves around the character you're apping - Pikachu could be Ash's manager, but Misty couldn't.

Please note: all managers in PriPara are mascots! So, if a humanoid or otherwise non-animal character comes along as your character's manager - they will find themselves wearing a winged animal kigurumi. They cannot take the kigurumi completely off, and all characters native to PriPara will think they are that animal. It's the system!

My character is fifty feet tall/will die without canon-specific mechanics/requires other accommodations!
Your character will discover accommodations have been made for them. For example, as soon as a vampire joins the game, blood or blood substitutes will be served in the cafe; any mermaids will discover the fountain has been enlarged, or a giant fishbowl is waiting for them at the gate. Kaiju will have a stage constructed for them in a field, as they are too large to perform in the PriPara TV building.

My character is from a dark/explicit canon!
They're welcome here! But they might find some things not going the way they usually do back home. Destructive/murderous powers will malfunction if used against living beings, and anyone who attempts to swear will find a goat bleating loudly over the dirty word. Explicit sexual content should be taken to a personal journal/musebox, or else your character may find themselves suddenpri aboard a fishing boat, clad in unusual attire.

This does not mean that serious or upsetting topics can't be discussed in-game, or that actions can't have consequences. By all means, get into fights and blast up the forest! Just....expect it to fix itself, and for Meganee to assign your character communipri service afterwards. This is a kinder world than your character might be used to, is all.

There will also be some more action-oriented or srs events where your character will have a chance to shine. There is a place in PriPara for everyone, under the priper circumstances.

My character doesn't want to become an idol!
That's okay. Not everyone who hangs out in PriPara chooses to perform, and no one thinks any less of them for that. There will be chances for non-performers to earn likes, as well - even just making new friends is grounds to receive likes!

Will my character's powers be restricted?
Usually not. Powers may be suppressed or eliminated for event-based system errors, but these effects will be temporary. Content pristrictions also apply to use of powers in Prieamwidth - and above all, please check with your thread partner when using your powers during RPri!

Any and all damage done to the setting will fix itself, but your character will be sentenced to communipri service as penance.

What can my character bring with them?
Anything they were carrying at the time they scanned their ticket. Since the Prieamwidth PriPara can be entered and left at will, characters can bring something different with them each time they visit. The ability to import larger pieces of their home settings may be unlocked as the Prieamwidth PriPara regains its sparkle.

What will my character gain upon entering Prieamwidth?
As mentioned above, Meganee gives all new idols an Idol Watch, Idol Time Mic with Jewel, and Looky-Cute Bag. They will earn more PriTickets with different concert coords every time they perform - feel free to handwave this so your character will always have a spare PriTicket on hand to snap with their friends.

The Prieamwidth PriPara also gives all characters access to "hammerspace", or the ability to produce anything they need from thin air for the purposes of comedy. Don't feel restricted by the laws of physics when threading something out, basically - but do respect your thread partner.

Palendar, Privents, & Mechanprics

How does time work?
Very wonkily. Prieamwidth PriPara roughly exists in the same month as it is OOPri, but there is no set IPri palendar. Just note if you're backdating/forward-dating something in relationship to other threads and you're good to go.

All threads are assumed to take place during the daytime in Prieamwidth (regardless of what time it is for your character's home puniverse), as everyone will be encouraged to go home when the Hologrammation sun sets. Avoiding Meganee and staying overnight is possible, but only for the sneaky.

Perhaps most priteriously of all, no time passes in a character's home puniverse while they're in the Prieamwidth PriPara. Something has prisrupted the natural flow of time very, very badpri.

How's the weather?
It defaults to sunny and mild - no jacket priquired - but with the system in this condition, who's to say?

What's the monthly schedule like? Are there privents?
Every OOPri month, the following things will happen on the following dates:

On the 1st: Activipri Check will end.
On the 7th: Meganee's PriPara TV proadcast will air on [community profile] pritube. This post will include information about the month's system error, any new areas that have been added to the Prieamwidth PriPara, and the upcoming privent log.
On the 21st: The monthly privent log will be posted to [community profile] prieamwidth. This is a mingle log describing whatever major privent is taking place in Prieamwidth, as well as a list of the Idol Challenges that your character can attempt. Activipri Check will also be posted to [community profile] idletime.

How does the Idol Watch work?
The Idol Watch allows your character to communicate with other idols within the Prieamwidth PriPara. It will not send or receive messages to/from anyone but adprinistrative characters while outside PriPara.

To post using the Idol Watch, characters press a button to choose between making a voice, text, or video post, and then another one to set the audience. This same mechanic applies when replying to another character's message - the sender has control over who can see said message. Hacking an Idol Watch to see pri-vate messages is possible, however, if the character is known to be a whiz with technolopri.

Idol Watch messages that your character sends or receives may be stored at your character's priscretion, and are accessible outside of the Prieamwidth PriPara.

All messages sent by adprin characters, like Meganee's PriPara TV posts and any times Hibiki abruptly makes a royal proclamation, automatically play on all Idol Watches, whether the character is within the Prieamwidth PriPara at the time or not.

The Idol Watch also stores all the likes your character receives. Certain privents will give your idol the chance to advance the clock hands on their Idol Watch, with something amazing happening if they make it all the way to 12.

What is a "system error"?
A silly opt-in effect that you may play with or not. Think the "curses" from Polychromatic - body swaps, everyone talks in rhyme, cows fall from the sky, etc.

There will be a new system error every month, and certain locaprions in the Prieamwidth PriPara have constant system errors. Tread carefulpri.

What are "sparkle" and "likes"?
"Sparkle" is a general term for a person or place's individuality - the things that make them themselves. Since the PriPara Prieamwidth has lost its "sparkle", it's fallen into disrepair.

"Likes" are a measurement of how much others have enjoyed an idol's performances/other idol-like behavior. The more likes the idols of the Prieamwidth PriPara gather, the more its sparkle will be restored.

How likes are calculated is a mystery of the system.

What is an "Idol Challenge"?
A prompt on the monthly privent. Your character doesn't have to take up the Idol Challenges, but those that do may be rewarded with bonus items. The more people who participate in Idol Challenges, the more likes will be gathered, restoring sparkle to the Prieamwidth PriPara, and new areas of the settpring will be revealed.

What language are the characters speaking?
Japanese. Magically. Somehow. If your character wants to punctuate their sentences with words from other languages, it's possible, but everyone in PriPara suddenly knows how to converse in Japanese - and finds this totally normal.

What are the activipri requirements?
Activipri is summarpri-based: once a month, you post a few sentences explaining what each of your characters has been up to. If they participated in a new thread this month, then you're set!

Is there a mandatory How's My Priving/opt out?
There are not. Players are welcome to create these posts on their journals, but they're not priquired.

My character died in-game!
Oops. They will awaken in a hospital room within the PriPara TV room, with a get-well card from the "PriPara Nurses" on a table next to their bed. They will also have a jellyfish plopped on their head in place of a cold compress. The PriPara Nurses have very.....original......nurturing methods.

All About PriPara

What is the history of the Prieamwidth PriPara?
Once upon a time, the Prieamwidth PriPara was an interprimensional PriPara that connected multiple puniverses - people came from all over to be idols. Then, one day, the Prieamwidth Meganii was practicing his moonwalking, tripped over a goat, and broke his glasses. This glitched Prieamwidth's system and it lost its sparkle, so the idols abandoned it.

Hearing of this, Shikyoin Hibiki has wrested control of Prieamwidth from the incompetent Meganii, and PriTickets have begun to be delivered across primensions again. Your character has therefore been invited not just to discover their ideal self in PriPara, but to help save Prieamwidth. If it loses its sparkle forever, an awful calamapri may happen!

What kind of calamapri? Stay tuned.

Does my character look different in PriPara?
They do if you so choose! Everyone who enters PriPara will be transformed into their "ideal self" - like a virtual avatar, except people don't always design how they look. As an example:

This is Laala, the protagonist of PriPara. She's in elementary school, so when she unconsciously imagines the kind of person she'd like to be...

...she becomes older/taller upon entering PriPara.

How this system applies to your character is up to you. They may ask Meganee to make them look a certain way, look completely different in PriPara, or look exactly the same (just in fancier clothes). If they don't like being an idol at all, they can even just receive a "guest" armband and come as-is.

In some canon cases, people's personalities also change upon entering PriPara (shy characters become haughty, etc). Please include a note in your "PriPara Style" section of your app if you'd like to play with this.

What does the Prieamwidth PriPara look like?
Pastel and cutesy, though right now it's lost its "sparkle" and thus has become overgrown and worn-down. Overall, however, it's a circular shopping plaza with a Shikyoin-Hibiki-shaped-fountain in the middle and a lake out back. The buildings are all different colors.

The largest building in the plaza is the PriPara TV building, which contains an infinite amount of room for customizable dressing rooms, TV show studios, concert halls, training rooms, and any other facilipri needed for idol activipries. The available technolopri is OOPri prisent-day.

The shopping plaza is bordered by forest on all sides. Any characters who attempt to discover what's beyond the forest on foot will find themselves back at the PriPara TV building. Anyone who flies will be zapped out of the sky by humorous lightning. It hurts nothing but your dignity, but you still can't pass.

Areas beyond the forest will be unlocked as the Prieamwidth PriPara restores its "sparkle". There is also, deep in the forest, a mysterious clock tower......

A current list of the locaprions available to explore in the Prieamwidth PriPara can be found here.

What's the deal with these PriTickets?
All PriPara coords (the clothes worn for concerts) are stored on fancy tickets called PriTickets. Scanning those PriTickets changes the character into that outfit via Magical Transformation Stock Footage. The coords have different "brands" that fit the aesthetics of six different Idol Types.

Like theater tickets, PriTickets contain a perforated piece at the top that can be snapped off. These ticket stubs are called "Friend Tickets", and swapping them with people is proof that you've become friends.

How do concerts work?
If your character would perform in PriPara, free to either play out or handwave their concerts at your discretion. They may perform a song they already know, use one that already exists within PriPara, or request a song from Meganii. (This request may be handwaved or played out.)

A full PriPara concert has four parts to it: dance, runway, Making Drama, and Cyalume Time. (For an example of what a full PriPara concert looks like, please see this video.)

✨ During the dance portion, your character sings and dances onstage.
✨ During the runway portion, your character walks down a runway extending from the center of the stage. When they reach the end of the runway, they say "Making Drama, Switch On!"
✨ During the "Making Drama", your character acts out a short skit that sums up something they want to tell their audience - it's a few seconds of corny symbolism, basically.
✨ During "Cyalume Time", your character changes into a shining neon coord and finishes their dance.

If your character is already a performer and has some other performance style that they prefer, go for it! They're prioneering a new concert style.

How the heck do I play a concert in RP?
It's not super well-suited, I know. Check out an example here of a concert log complete with original Making Drama.

What else can I do in Prieamwidth?
Everyone is welcome to define "being an idol" however they want in the Prieamwidth PriPara! Suggested idol-like activities include:

✨ Trying out the Idol Challenges posted on each privent log
✨ Become affected by the month's system error and letting shenanigans prinsue
✨ Hosting a PriTicket Snap Meet
✨ Brainstorming for a new Making Drama
✨ Forming a team and holding a team formation ceremony
✨ Appearing on, or creating your own, streaming program on PriTube
✨ Working part-time in one of the shops
✨ Asking your manager for song/dance/handshake/smile/autograph lessons
✨ Indulging in, or teaching others, your favorite hobby
✨ Playing in the arcade
✨ Obtaining a catchphrase or sentence ender
✨ Floating weightless through the aether until someone gives you your favorite food
✨ Getting lost in the forest and chased out by a herd of gnus
✨ Discovering there is a dungeon in the basement of the PriPara TV building and barely escaping alive by being somehow shot out of the fountain in the town square
✨ Dressing up in a mask and a cape, stealing other people's PriTickets, standing on a disco ball proclaiming friendship to be a lie, and then swinging off into the far distance while laughing maniacally at the top of your lungs

...no, wait, not that last one. Do not. Do that.

Adprin Quesprions

Who's modding this game?
Mari/[plurk.com profile] ghoulfriend. Supprimental adprinistrators will be pricruited as necessarpri.

Why is Hibiki half a PriC and half an NPriC?
Because she's Hibiki.

Due to being a mod-played character, however, Hibiki will not get to be the star of any privents that determine whether sparkle returns to Prieamwidth. She may think up a privent, but the people returning the bulk of the sparkle will be the other players' characters. Hibiki is polishing everyone into brilliant diamonds! Revere her.

You didn't answer my question!
That can be fixed. Leave a comment below and the adprin will get to you as soon as possible!
