✨ GLOSSARPRI ✨
Brand - Individual clothing/coord lines within an Idol Type, united with a common design theme. Each idol has a preferred brand that matches their Idol Type. A list of brands can be found here. (Picking a brand is optional for playing in Prieamwidth RPri, but if you'd have fun, go for it!)
Concert - A song-and-dance routine your idol can perform onstage in a coord from their PriTickets. The standard concert has four parts: Dance (performing on the main stage), Runway (striding down the runway in the center of the stage), Making Drama (a short symbolic skit, see below), and Cyalume Time (the last dance bit of their concert, performed at the end of the runway in a lit-up, glowing Cyalume Coord).
Coord - Short for "coordinate". The outfits everyone wears in PriPara, both for walking around (coloquially known OOC as a "casual coord") and for performing. Idols tend to prefer wearing their brand's coords over others'.
Cyalume Coord - The coord your idol changes into for the Cyalume Time portion of a concert; they light up like a glowstick/cyalume, hence the name. On rare occasions, a Goddess or Time Fairy may descend after a concert to bestow a "Super Cyalume Coord" on a worthy idol.
Hologrammation - The magic technology by which elements of PriPara are generated. Meganii is able to activate Hologrammation screens from his glasses, though the weather is also controlled by a master Hologrammation machine in the PriPara TV building.
Idol - A person who's entered PriPara and undergone PriPara Change to become their ideal self. Many idols choose to perform in concerts within the PriPara TV building, but many also enjoy just hanging out. Other idol activities within PriPara include snap meets, variety show-like contests, gravure photoshoots, and more. Basically, whatever you want to do and whatever you want your individual idol schtick to be, go for it! There is no wrong way to be an idol in PriPara.
Idol Challenge - A mechanic unique to the Prieamwidth PriPara, by which likes are gathered in the Idol Watch. Once per month, new Idol Challenges will be issued, and idols who take part in activities that fulfill the Challenges' requirements will contribute to restoring the Prieamwidth PriPara. General idol-like behavior, such as performing in concerts and making friends, serve as perennial Idol Challenges that always gain likes.
Idol Time Mic - The current series of microphones all idols use to perform. They're standardized and look like this, with a different-colored Jewel for each Idol Type.
Idol Type - An overarching category to describe your idol's personality and performance style. There are five main Idol Types - Lovely, Pop, Cool, Natural, and Celeb - with side or plot-important characters also being Premium-type. A breakdown of each Type follows:
🎀 Lovely: The traditional idol - feminine and frilly. They lean towards being cute and charming sorts of people, and want lots of friends.
🍭 Pop: Upbeat, colorful, and quirky (on purpose). Known for extremely goofy clothes but also for being the type to cheer their audience on.
🎵 Cool: Mature and mysterious. Equally likely to be covered in lace or in black leather, but tend to be an inspirational figure for their fans.
🍀 Natural: Homespun, marching to their own drum. Their connection to nature is reflected in their plant- or animal-themed coords, and they just want to behave however they feel like onstage.
👑 Celeb: Opulent, resplendent, and neurotic. Celebs are the rarest of the main Idol Types, which is good, as they're extremely high-maintenance people who nonetheless impress all who see them.
💎 Premium: The Type for outliers who don't fit any of these. Tend to be slightly more grown-up or fancy clothes, but without the LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME seen on Celebs.
Idol Watch - The device in which one's likes are stored, slowly moving the hour and minute hands on the display. Can also be used as a communicator within the Prieamwidth PriPara. Mascots and Vocal Dolls can travel to the real world (any primension) by entering the Idol Watch. They come in two colors, as seen here.
Jewel - A heart-shaped, colored gemstone placed inside the Idol Time Mic. (Jewels can also be stored when not performing in the back of the Idol Watch.) An idol's Type determines which color Jewel goes in their Mic - pink for Lovely, blue for Pop, purple for Cool, green for Natural, gold for Celeb, and silver for Premium. An idol who puts a different color Jewel into their Mic will undergo "Jewel Change" and take on appearance/personality characteristics of the corresponding Idol Type. Everyone, be careful with your Jewels!
Likes - Votes an idol receives for taking on Idol Challenges or exhibiting other idol-like behavior. A measurement of how well they were able to move the audience. Restoring the Prieamwidth PriPara is dependent upon likes.
Looky-Cute Bag - A bag Meganee gives to all idols on their first visit to Prism Stone. There's plenty of room to store one's Idol Watch, Mic, and PriTickets within, and the front has a clear plastic pocket each idol can decorate by filling however they like. (Yes, this game gives your character an itabag.)
Making Drama - A short skit, activated by saying "Making Drama, Switch On!" at the end of the runway during a concert. This shows the audience an abstract scene symbolic of what your idol wishes to express to them. Coming up with good Making Dramas is an important part of being an idol. You can watch Hibiki do a bunch from the arcade here.
Manager - A winged stuffed animal/mascot character who looks after your idol while they're in PriPara. They do things like recruit more idols for your team and enter your idol for concerts; they usually have awful personalities, but your idol can't perform without one! Mascots go to school to learn to be managers, and if they fail in their duties or don't find an idol to manage, they're taken to the Mascot Graveyard. This is every bit as horrific as it sounds.
Meganee/Meganii - The day-to-day NPCs that keep PriPara running smoothly. There is one Meganii per PriPara location, and his duty is to protect idols/provide them with songs/serve as a MC. Countless copies of Meganee operate all service positions within PriPara/Prism Stone. Their bright red glasses are their trademark and the source of their power.
PriPara - Short for either "Prism Paradise" or "Pretty Paradise". A magical world with a long history that anyone with a PriTicket can visit. It's a cross between a fun shopping district and an idol theme park where anyone can perform. PriPara does have a curfew, however - everyone but Vocal Dolls has to go home in the evening! It's the system.
PriPara Style - The "ideal self" your idol becomes upon entering PriPara; basically a magical idol transformation (the transformation itself is called "PriPara Change"). Children often look older, for example, because they want to grow up. People who wish their personalities were different strongly enough may also find their mannerisms changing - especially if their Type is at odds with how they comport themselves IRL. People who like themselves enough as-is will change clothes into their casual coord but otherwise look exactly the same.
PriPara TV - The main building in any given PriPara. Within it are plenty of practice rooms, dressing rooms, and lots of concert halls for concerts. Any Vocal Dolls in that particular PriPara also have lodgings in PriPara TV. Television broadcasts made in this building are also called "PriPara TV", and are usually moderated by Meganee.
Prism Stone - The cutesy fashion store, also staffed by Meganee, that contains the gates connecting PriPara to the outside world. Prism Stone shops connecting to the Prieamwidth PriPara pop up across various primensions, even in the afterlife, to invite new idols to PriPara.
PriTicket - The tickets on which everyone's coords are stored. A person's first PriTicket is delivered to them by the goddess Jewlie, and further tickets can be earned by performing, purchasing coords at Prism Stone, or by asking Meganee/a brand designer (can't hurt). The typical PriTicket only features one piece of a coord - top, bottom, shoes, or hair accessory.
PriTicket sub-definitions:
Friend Ticket - The top bit of a PriTicket, which you can snap off. Trading Friend Tickets with someone is (as the name indicates) a gesture of friendship. It's also necessary for the team formation ceremony. Idols often have "Snap Meets" where they trade FriendTickets with their friends.
Scanning - How your idol changes coords for a concert. There's a slot to scan your ticket's QR code in the changing room attached to the concert hall. Meganee will instruct your idol to scan their PriTickets and, optionally, Friend Tickets before each concert. (What scanning Friend Tickets does is...unclear, but friends are good, right?)
Sparkle - The individuality, energy, and charisma of a place or person: the intangible sense of what makes them themselves. The Prieamwidth PriPara has currently lost its sparkle, which causes the system to malfunction. A person who has lost their sparkle undergoes a still worse fate. But that won't happen here...right...?
System - Catchall term for the magical computer program controlling PriPara; full of arbitrary rules and limitations everyone overcomes like three times a season for plot purposes. Has a tendency, in Prieamwidth's PriPara, to undergo "system errors" (see below).
System error - A glitch in the Prieamwidth PriPara system that results in unusual behavior from the setting or the idols within it. Meganee will warn idols of new system errors once per month. What could be causing them?
Team - A three-idol unit with its own name; basically an idol OT3. To enter many idol competitions, you need to have formed a team. Each team has an attending manager, chosen from their individual managers (if they aren't all managed by the same mascot).
To form a team, the attending manager must witness your idol and their two friends as they all exchange Friend Tickets and speak the following oath, beginning with the team leader (who'll stand in the center for concerts):
Leader: Promise - Believe in friendship!
Teammate #1: Rhythm - Engrave it!
Teammate #2: Paradise - Our goal!
All: We hereby swear to stand onstage together!
Vocal Doll - A girl born in PriPara from a PriTicket, usually as an overseer of the system (the two known types of these are goddesses, who maintain the system, and Time Fairies, who maintain...time) or as the amalgamation of emotions that enough girls have felt very strongly. Under normal circumstances, they can't leave PriPara.
